11.11am, Getting ready for a very exciting Olympics race! In 40 minutes time, my friend from school Helen Glover and her teammate Heather Stanning would be rowing in the Women's Pair final, in front of their friends and family. I was so excited to watch them and, as the start time approached, my colleagues all gathered around to watch it. Helen looked so cool and chilled out, and as the gun signalled the start of the race, they were off! Leading from the beginning, there was none of the nail-biting fear that they wouldn't win but there was a lot of screaming and cheering at the screen! Winning by a full boat length, they had only gone and won an Olympic Gold!! Not only the first Gold of the Olympics for Team GB but also the first time women had ever won a rowing event for Great Britain! Helen made history! So proud. What amazing women. Wwooooiieeeeeee!!!!!
